I have time to stop and take things slowly for the first time in a long time. I feel so incredibly grateful for all of my friends -- family, really -- and their support. I see so many of us working hard to make these times a little easier in any way we can.

Focusing on that is what gives me hope. There are so many terrible things happening in the world -- in our own backyard -- but what I see is a whole community of people who refuse to stop caring, who won't stop fighting for a better world. Even if we don't know how to begin.
