As a thought exercise, I've tried to imagine what appropriate justice would be for true criminals if I could rebuild from the ground up.
Like, what should happen to Mitch McConnell for his crimes against the American people? For how long? Revenge or rehabilitation?

I think we all agree that he and a LOT of other folks have abused their power to cause death, suffering and a degradation of our culture. But what do we do in response to that? What kind of culture do we want to build in its place?
It's time to think about that.

@jakebe For me it all comes down to the question of remorse.
If he shows any sign of understanding the cruelty of his actions, I'm willing to let him aim for rehabilitation.
If he can't or won't do that, we put him on trial, find him guilty for the deaths caused by his policies, and quietly dispose of his remains.
