If you think it's hard being on this site because people are always looking for ways to 'cancel' you for problematic statements about minorities, imagine being the minority in question and having to be reminded just how many popular people are bigoted against you all the time
If it isn't some popular furry doubling down on being racist, it's scientific studies showing how racism makes life harder in every aspect, or politics advancing racist practices with or without the 'racist' bits obscured for plausible deniability
And people wonder why black furries are so mad and loud all the time. It's because so many big names in this fandom still have outsized support despite pointing a finger at people like me and going "You're terrible and I hate you"
Imagine moving through a world where everyone looks at you like you're a menace, you work a job where you get paid less than white counterparts and have to swallow indignities large and small, you pay taxes to a government upholding your own oppression...
...you have to deal with the effects of centuries of racism limiting where you can live, the quality of medical care, what kind of food is available, the wealth you can access...coming home to a fandom that prides itself on diversity and acceptance...
...and then finding that fandom propping up artists who are just as invested in excluding you and hating you as the rest of the world.
How could you not be upset about that? How could the call for "keeping politics out of fandom" not drive you crazy?
