Reading this honestly takes a lot of the sting out of rolling back to face masks indoors and being more careful around my birthday.

If you have to make a public apology, you should look at it with this question in mind:
"If someone gave me this apology about something that deeply offended me, how would I feel?"
If you would still be pissed, scrap what you have and start over.
To me, the worst apologies try to weaponize the wrongful party's minority status to beat back well-deserved criticism.
If your platform allows millions to see and be offended by your actions, you are not the vulnerable party in this situation.
