Today was the 102 year anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre in which white supremacist terrorists mass murdered 300 Black Americans.
Here's how media reported on it—a complete erasure of Black people.
Three Tulsa survivors—Hughes Van Ellis, 102, Lessie Benningfield Randle, 108, and Viola Fletcher, who just turned 109, are with us today. They are the oldest living survivors of the Tulsa Race Massacre. They have received $0 reparations.
This isn't ancient history. It's contemporary reality.
@arilin That honestly wouldn’t be very hard

@shaterri Right now I am very into "Serious Journaling" YouTube, which can be anything from scrapbook-BulletJournal tutorials to "how to journal like the stoics" video essays >.>
To blunt the consistent bummer of applying for jobs without a single interview in three weeks, decided to write first thing instead. I have to tell you, it worked!
Finished an outline for my next Patreon story and applied to four positions with a bit more optimism than I've had in a week or two. Now it's time to do a little bit of burrow cleaning and cooking.
I've made a handshake deal to quit Twitter, so now I really should be more active here!
The only problem is that my chosen instance () is HIGHLY restrictive and will only confederate (is that the right word?) with other instances they've white-listed. I admire the idea, but this makes it harder for my friends to find me, and for me to follow my friends.
Does anyone have another instance they'd recommend, or a workaround they've thought of? :)
@Austin_Dern @arilin I honestly wouldn’t mind that so much as long as I knew it would be steady work

re: Doctor Who spoilers ('Flux')
@Austin_Dern I've heard that criticism a lot, actually -- folks said a big problem with Flux is that it's really confusing to follow.
I haven't found that to be the case, but overall the season does have this tendency to build toward some "final" obstacle that can't be overcome in the final moments, only to have it wrap up neatly in the next episode somehow. I don't mind it a LOT, but it does feel a little cheap the fourth or fifth time. >.>
And I hear you about The Doctor being the Progenitor of all Time Lords, but I think it allows for future runs that aren't *quite* so Dalek/Cybermen/Weeping Angel-heavy. It feels like a chance to reset Doctor Who to tell fresher stories, as long as they let the Doctor stop being the Most Important Person in the Room (which, OK, now that I say it out loud, I know they won't).
We're coming up on the end of "Flux", Chris Chibnall's third and final season of Doctor Who. I'm very surprised (and pleased) that it feels like he took such a big swing with it; it kinda blows the whole mythos wide open and gives future writers a pristine sandbox to play in.
I'm especially curious to see what Davies keeps when he returns as showrunner. Even if he goes back to his version of Who, someone is going to use what Chibnall did here as a jumping-off point for something truly inspired.
Just signed my separation agreement with my now-former company. It's definitely a bittersweet feeling; I feel like the company has treated me as well as they possibly could, but at the same time they weren't a very functional company.
I want to spend a couple weeks clearing my head and cleaning up my space before thinking about what's next. This is an excellent opportunity to reconnect with myself and rediscover the things that bring me joy.
Honestly? I'm kinda looking forward to it.
