personal issues

Well this is stressful. Over on the hellbird site, an apparently former friend is subtweeting me while liking my tweets and appearing to be trying to bait me into responding. This is because I asked them if the stepper motor on their 3D printer was going to be an easy part to replace if it needed that, and they yelled at me for 'manspalining', then refused to accept an apology and said I was a coward for deleting the comments. So now I have had to go from unfollowing them, to outright blocking them. And it's making me feel like shit.

@jayblanc That sounds very much a case of That Escalated Quickly™. ***hug*** It doesn't sound like a salvageable situation, but maybe that depends on whether they might think differently after a little cooling off, or maybe over time. Still, ugh.

Is stepper motor maintenance a thing with 3D printers? I'd quite like to get one this year, but only after plenty of research into what's out there and what I'd be getting myself into. =:)

re: personal issues

@porsupah The stepper motors can be one of the many failure points of 3D printers. Alas, it does seem like 'hobby' class 3D printers have plateaued at 'still very expensive but not very good'

As for the former friend, the inciting incident was almost a month ago now, so they are holding a grudge.

re: personal issues

@jayblanc Erf. That's not great, on either count. Probably not that much space for the prices to come down further, either - disappointing there'd seem to be so little regard for reliability in component choice. Still, assuming easy replacement, I suppose that's addressable.
