Ok so I've only played it a little bit but Hardspace: Shipbreaker seems to have a bit of a tone problem?

Like there's the kind of "hahaha yeah the Corp cares more about profits than safety!" played-for-laughs quips that I'm completely tired of seeing everywhere.

And at the same time, a lot of the game is trying really hard to set a tone of earnest workmanship in a fundamentally dangerous job. The music and VA does a lot to create that mood.

And the fundamental dystopian framing of "preposterous debt that can probably never be paid off" is taken a lot more seriously than I expected.

@starkatt Well, I think the tone deafness is from wanting to be really obvious about the intent behind the message and not having enough writing or game play to finish the job? I mean, there's no mechanic where were you can an eve talk to your fellow breakers and try to organize as little as even a more fair fee-repayment structure.
