Gonna put this PSA out there:
If you're new to mastodon and the fediverse in general: It's extremly reccommended to NOT use the Official Mastodon Client.
The lead developer behind the app doesn't moderate their own server's connections at all, and instead just chose cut the Federated timeline out of the app to make things easier on themselves against the wishes of all the other servers.
On masto you should have three timelines: Home, Local, and Federated
