@envgen being a deeply depressed and isolated child with limited access to computers and video games, i watched a lot of cartoons and they would buy a LOT of ad time on any channels displaying cartoons

@envgen I found the TV adverts for that stuff really annoying and excessively upsetting

@body@mastodon.social also computers are just bad right now. We're very unlikely to come up with appropriate equipment and techniques for this sort of thing when they all come from a bunch of people trying to cheaply one-up eachother

@body@mastodon.social even human brains take like 2-3 decades to get to the point where people seem happy with them so a learning-based approach seems destined to either be extremely slow or extremely energy intensive

@envgen it is likely that literally everyone does given how busted the entire of all everything is

computer grousing

@body@mastodon.social if it's any consolation, HDDs are some of the best value-per-unit of any computer components these days. The decade old intel CPU in my desktop that starts belching fire when the machine boots is still apparently "worth" more than ryzen products with lower power draw and 4x the threads

@SuricrasiaOnline I think the upcoming one has 48/96 and maybe 64/128 on a refresh? Dunno yet

@Duende@snouts.online they permanently lock at the slightest sign of trouble

@tom if the microcontroller isn't set up with the thermostat logic I doubt you'll get anything off the ports but it'll be interesting to see either way

@tom I should say my theory is component reuse because it looks like the exact same display and board as thermostats I've seen the inside of- just a different case

@tom thermostats are thermometers that put DC down a specific pin when temperature is between A and B
