(Magic) Ash
When fire has run its course, what remains is the burned-out remains of its passing. The heat of digestion gives way to the shine of distillation. The errant spark catches and sublimates the mix, forcing a rethinking, a new approach to refine the process, the reagents, the alchemist. The ashes of failed processes themselves hold clues on to how not to catch fire again, but they still hold heat, and are bitter to the tongue.
(Magic) Ash
Ash is inevitable. Change leaves behind residue in its wake, whether a chrysalis or a nova remnant. Putrefaction is the mourning of ash, the return of the unused and the discarded to the prima materia, the undifferentiated base matter of the universe. Perhaps it will benefit another. Perhaps it will return in new forms. The release of ash is also part of the cycle, the remembrance of who we were and why we chose to become who we are.
