Re: Sexuality in Communities

@mawr I should also be clear that I'm not trying to say any harm should be thought of as "acceptable." It shouldn't matter if only one person is hurt by something; everyone matters. My question was whether it's fair to call something that happens so infrequently a pattern.

If it bothers you, it's worth saying something, regardless, and I will do my best to listen. I know I probably haven't done that well. I'm trying not to be defensive. I apologize.

Re: Sexuality in Communities

@literorrery No worries!! I started this thread as a means by which to start a dialogue on the subject. Your and @indi's comments have been helpful in that they've helped me think about this from different perspectives.

This is a complicated subject to discuss in large part because (at least in my experience) it's only been made known by complicated emotional responses from which logical explanations must be discovered through extensive self-examination.

Re: Sexuality in Communities

@indi @literorrery

For clarification's sake, I intend to continue referring to this social closeness tendency as a "script" with the sidenote that I recognize it's nowhere near as commonly occurring as the one I presented as an example earlier (🔼 [2]). My main reasoning for this is that I find it to be a useful shorthand reference, as well as a way to frame and dissect that particular social narrative for the purposes of this discussion.
