still kinda amazed that discussion about user freedoms seems to constantly swing between “don't let users do dangerous shit” and “let users do whatever they want with no barriers” and never seems to touch on “let users do potentially self-damaging things under a policy of informed consent”

@kibi Trusting the user is the first step towards being seen as a gatekeeper instead of a service-provider. Models which give agency to the user risk empowering the user to not rely on the service, which costs the service money.
