Multiple times this morning I've heard someone tap 2-3 times on the windows of the house. Like you'd tap on a window to check if anyone's there? So I'd freak out, rush over to the window to see no one there, look all around the house to find no one in view anywhere nearby...
The last time it happened right next to me, and I jumped up and saw a very dumb/confused woodpecker fly off. XD
What _are_ birds.
@mawr they do it on the porch railing sometimes, and the cats and I all go "!!!!????!!!" until I realize/remember what it was...
@green That makes sense!
There's a pine tree in our front yard with more woodpecker holes than bark. Apparently they really like our yard. XD
@mawr oooh, yay! (forcibly refrains self from burbling about local birds) if you have a place and an interest in setting up a birdfeeder, I'd be happy to give advice and point you in the direction of an excellent local store. ;)
@green I might just consider that! >..>
@mawr I grew up with that... at one point we had a woodpecker hammer a bedroom window every morning as the sun came up. XD
@wobblewuffess @mawr We had one hammer a chimney on the regular, sounded roughly like automatic fire xD
@IrisKalmia @wobblewuffess Oh gods XD
@mawr was it a flicker? they do "territorial drumming," which makes a really loud noise to show off how awesome they are, and they deliberately pick the noisiest things they can hit--windows, sheet metal--empty metal garbage cans are favorite, great resonance. XD
