@Momentrabbit Since I've been alive, Canada has always been among the first countries to pass federal protection for its cultural minorities.

I mean, you folks made same-sex marriage legal in 2005! And not under duress, but rather as a proposed bill that passed with overwhelming support (47-21).

Here in the US, we literally had to file suit against the US government for that right. The supreme court narrowly found very narrowly in favor (5-4), and that was only resolved in 2015. ;~;

@Momentrabbit And that's _just_ legal precedent, not law. That ruling can still be challenged by anyone with enough money to litigate. It'd be a very difficult case to win, but it'd be a lot easier than overturning existing law.

I'd say Canada is doing very well, comparatively speaking. ♥️
