Capitalism
"You want me to leave my mate, be in the company of random strangers with whom you don't want me forming the 'wrong' kinds of emotional attachments, perform alien calculations in strenuous mental models for hours a day, for which you will reward me with just enough to not really afford shelter, in hopes that in thirty years, we can quit doing it? And you think my way of life is weird?"
When I work from this coffee shop, I tend to set up in one of the big comfy chairs on the stage, thus apparently claiming it for queer people everywhere. I say this 'cause the longer I stay here, the more awesomely queer presenting people end up just quietly working on the stage beside me.
And that is h*ckin' RAD. :D :D
For a more in-depth interview, PBS Newshour did a segment on him.

"The foster father who cares when terminally ill kids have no one" [7:34]
This is an absolutely beautiful story about a wonderful man who has dedicated his life to caring for terminally ill foster children. ;~;

It's funny, even I was becoming a tad wary of "trigger warnings" because some people were being very aggressive and doctrinaire about them.
But here in a community of actual people who actually use them sensibly for actual needs, instead of having to defend them to gangs of paranoid right-wing crusade addicts...
They're pretty great, really. It just feels so civilized to be able to say "um, yeah, some of you might not wanna look at this one" and save someone a bit of unnecessary distress.
Oh hey is there a thing going on? I've been having such a good time watching #SGDQ2017 that the day seems to be almost over?
I'm gonna go get ice cream. :D
Network Nostalgia. ♥️
I miss the ritual of connecting to the internet back in the days of dialup. Today we're just always online which is neat, but not as special, y'know?
I was just remembering the late dialup days of crossing your fingers and hoping you'll get a good connection, the full 56k v.92 handshake that gave you the best upload speeds for playing games online.
I used to be able to sing the handshake for 9600 baud well enough to fool modems into attempting a connection.
Putting out another reminder that I'm in search of affordable housing in or very near Seattle.
Sooner I find some place the better, so I no longer have to endure my landlord sending me listings and suggesting I'm not trying hard enough to leave (and that I'm being too picky when I limit my search to places where I can trust my roommates won't flip out on me for being transgender.)
Dragony plush thing! Friendly, non-binary, anarcho-syndicalist, ace.
