I'm not a copyright lawyer but that color palette with those shapes does look suspiciously similar (left: brand new pixelfed logo, right: Apple Photos app icon)

there was a version with red gradients that looked a lot better anyways but really considering the symbolism this is one of the weaker ones (unless you're counting that one Apple icon, but I heard they have a lot of money for lawyers)

hey @pixelfed you might wanna take a look at this if you don't wanna get sued. I take it you don't use Apple products that often?

@noiob Thanks for the feedback, I am aware of Apple Photos and I think the Pixelfed logo is quite different.

@noiob "Apple sues open source federated project"

I can live with that, we might have to change the logo but just think how much attention that could bring to the fediverse!

@pixelfed I'd rather not break copyright law but you do you, buddy

@pixelfed also I hope you're not planning on making an iOS app :thaenkin:

@noiob We have a few different colour variants like black, grey, white and a red gradient. The default will be black (like the old logo), I am just using this one for pride month!

@noiob @pixelfed I fully support breaking copyright law! in fact, I encourage it! pirate on mateys! ☠️

@vantablack I guess punk rock isn't about being creative? have a look at the other submissions github.com/dansup/pixelfed/iss
