the beauty of a good command line is that you don't have to know what you're doing whatsoever.
just throw like a billion greps and awks and cats and other utilities together until it does what you want.
some nerd: look at this thing i did, it's super complicated but it runs in 0.2 seconds!!!!!!!
me, banging utilities together: this script has 500 lines and takes 5 minutes to run but it's mine and i love it
@tom I write bash so infrequently that when I do, I have to google stuff like "for loop bash" because of course it's different than any other language
@noiob more often than not I'll just write a small C program to accomplish tasks others may do in bash lol

@noiob school ingrained C into my brain for 2 years before we moved on to object oriented languages so I'm still somewhat fluent in it. It's an alright language but it won't stop you from fucking yourself over which can be fun
@tom I know exactly as much C as I've needed to complete uni assignments and not one bit more, which means I probably know a bit of C by now
