I wish large (≥A4) epaper displays weren't so expensive, they'd be perfect to display stuff like a calendar on the wall… I'll have to look into those electronic price tags at some point, they look promising

@noiob I would recommend looking into a Kobo if you can find one cheap - their update files are not signed or encrypted and you can thus freely fuck with them from bootloader up as long as you can repack a .tar.gz lmao

@noiob yeah they’re pretty good! there’s also a small but vibrant little hacking scene around them so lots of the ins and outs are well documented (if a little sporadically)
huh, Kindle replacement screens are cheap-ish on AliExpress, I wonder how hard they are to drive. Might be cheaper to just get an old Kindle and hack it
