people still talk about the Analogue NT like it's anything but an expensive well-made emulator box

"It's not emulation because FPGA" It's an emulator running on an FPGA, it has zero advantages over an emulator running on a fast computer

@noiob i was under the impression running on an FPGA made it more of a hardware clone than an emulator

@pup_hime It's just an emulator implemented on an FPGA, there's nothing it can do that a sufficiently fast computer can't. It's a well-made emulator but cycle-accurate emulation of the SNES already existed. It has an edge in terms of input lag because it's a dedicated emulation device running on bare metal, no operating system or drivers but it's not a recreation of the SNES hardware

@pup_hime there's not much good info about it, most gaming journalists don't know much about FPGAs and Youtubers will just talk out of their asses anyways. Digital Foundry made a great video about it iirc youtu.be/LOSQgBEf5ac
