I'd really like to have a small, lightweight (in UI) program that I can use to do some quick math I'd usually start spreadsheet software for

I'm sure most people would just use a text editor and their calculator of choice (or just use python/ ruby/ bash interactively),
and honestly Libre Office Calc starts up fairly quickly on my main computers
but still I'd like to have just a table with some basic spreadsheeting math

bonus points if I can write, idk, javascript instead of Excel formulas

@aperezdc I might've not explained it well but I specifically wanna work with 1D/2D lists of data

@noiob ahh, got it, sorry for jumping in with a somewhat unrelated answer… should've read more carefully.

Instead of localc (bloated, IMO) for a while I used Gnumeric (lighter), but a couple of years ago I settled on github.com/andmarti1424/sc-im which has Lua scripting. I haven't tried the scripting support, and it's not JavaScript as you asked for, but maybe it'll do for you.

@aperezdc yeah nope I need a GUI lol, I can't figure out the simplest things and I don't know whose fault it is (I built it in WSL) but the built-in help scrolls brokenly

I don't really need scripting I just felt like having less Excel-y functions and stuff would be easier for me to get into
