I've gotten really into the Linus Tech Tips videos where they troubleshoot their ridiculous server setup recently
@MochiWaifu yeah, makes me wanna get some kind of server setup for myself (though realistically all I could have in here is a NAS)
@noiob sameee
every time i see a cheap used server i'm like "hey.. that would be fun"
but also definitely not a good purchase, and i don't wanna put a rack in my room for sure lmao
@MochiWaifu a friend who lives in the same house (and has the same floor plan) actually has a server rack and multiple servers, but he's hacking them rather than running them
@noiob How do you hack a server,
@MochiWaifu hack as in "put Linux on the chip that manages the whole thing and make it work as good as the proprietary software for it"
and you do it by plugging wires into the debug ports, server boards are actually really nice to work with
@noiob Oh, that's not what I expected, but makes sense huh,
@noiob i recommend the ones where they build cheap ass scrappy gaming pcs as a contest
also the one where linus builds a pc with and for the most online zoomer in history
@halcy I've seen the second one, it's amazing
and I loved the 69$ gaming pc because I've actually decked out a Dell Optiplex myself and it's a fun time
@noiob Oh yeah those are honestly great and I wish there were more?
I really don't care about the reviews and stuff, but the videos where they tinker with things? Pretty amusing imo
