because it was missing from most "update from WSL 1 to WSL 2" tutorials, here's how to convert your existing WSL distros to WSL 2:
wsl -l -v to list all distros and what versions they're on
wsl --set-version <name> 2 to update (it takes a bit)

i still use wsl 1 because it lets me keep an accurate cpu usage indicator in my polybar
