wow ok Firefox just decided to give me an actual heart attack - when I clicked the address bar there was this list of URLs some of which I haven't visited in like 7-8 years (but visited frequently back then, like an old wordpress blog and Livejournal), and I only recently came back to Firefox after using Chrome for a bit and assumed I had a new installation and everything that wouldn't know any older sites I'd visited?? It's definitely a different computer now...
Here's an edited screenshot:
@wolfie are you logged into a Firefox account?
@noiob oh wait I found the top sites tick box and turned it off again, so that has probably always been off since they messed with the address bar recently, so I guess firefox somehow turned it on and dug old data up
@wolfie I mean you can search your history, and also delete everything older than six months if you're in the history viewer (just right click on "older than 6 months", delete)
@noiob ah yes just done that, hopefully that'll prevent any future surprises 😅
@noiob I think I changed computers in the meantime, a couple of the sites I hadn't used since prior to getting my current PC in 2016, but yeah there must've been some sort of profile transfer or something, just so weird it suddenly decided to dig that up, I can't find a way to make anything other than "top sites" appear in the address bar drop down and don't remember what it was showing before it freaked me out just now
