Well that was Scott Pilgrim vol. 1. Only 2 slurs! Not too bad for 2004.

But yeah it was pretty good start. Everyone is charming and Scott is a major loser. Established everything nicely and makes you want to follow. Knives is def sweet and too good for Scott. Ramona is actually cool and not in that way that girls are written to be cool by most media. Actually has me excited to read more!

Sometimes a piece of media throws a SAT word at you like “erstwhile.” Then I gotta Google it cuz I got like 1000 on my test.

Wallace is great cuz he’s a scumbag gay with a good moral compass. He doesn’t follow it but is right when he directs Scott. He’s good at causing friction.

Cozy and then iconic. It’s helpful that Scott actually has positive traits like having a basic skill like cooking and wanting to do that for others.

I love being able to read like a page a minute while getting bombarded with Teams messages lol.

Vol. 2 done, not bad but vibes more with the incidental stuff. Main story just kinda went and the clash with Lucas Lee is very brief. Just kinda keeping the ball moving with this one and getting some nice look at their relationship. Scott’s fuck ups slowly creeping back to him.

Lucas Lee is allegedly based on Jason Lee. Which is a funny contrast between the My Name is Earl guy vs Chris Evan’s who Lee was played by in the movie.

Scott and Wallace became friends just through meeting and then directly going to hanging out. Sometimes a friendship just spontaneously exists, it’s pretty good feeling IMO. It’s like in kindergarten when a kid walks up and is like “we’re friends now!”

Scott and Todd fight it out in a weird store that gives you vague dread. There’s like two pages where they’re in the SCP store! Like damn come on that’s a good idea! Could totally have had the whole thing there instead it just implodes and that’s it. All that happens is Todd has a flashback and Scott hears voices from taxidermy cuckoo clocks.

Todd in the comics is a pompous jerk like in the movies but a little more evil. In the movies he came off more airheaded not knowing that some items were non vegan. In the comics he knows he’s going against his own ideas and does so purely cuz he believes he’s above consequence. He’s also more actively cheating on Envy heightening his jerk levels.

@fillertrack I wouldn't recognize that as Scott if I saw it without the box
