@Violet the Link's awakening remake blatantly fakes this style which imo kills the depth effect, half the screen is a mushy mess so you see less of the game and it gives me a headache to look at it
@Violet like, sure, I can appreciate a nice bokeh but they can't even blur based on depth info on the Switch
@noiob I still think it's impressive managing to achieve that effect in realtime in a game engine, I personally think it looks neat.

@noiob from a photography standpoint, if they're going for a minifigure style, it looks a lot nicer with the tilt shift blur added. this is a poor interpretation on my part because i do not do photography, but the link's awakening remake basically nails this style
