@halcy I guess but you don't have to glue ping pong balls to people
@noiob unfortunately, as far as I know, markerless external systems still aren't QUITE up to Pro Quality
what I'd really like to own, tho, is a neuron suit. cameraless tracking.
unfortunately they cost money
@noiob the worst part is they're not even THAT expensive
the full kit us 6kUSD, add 3kUSD if you want finger tracking
(which may sound like it actually IS expensive but compared to the ask for even a modestly configured marker based tracker it's absolutely fucking nothing)
@halcy I wonder how close you could come with like, Vive trackers, or the new Kinect
@noiob well, it depends on what you want! If you want actual mocap data that you can use in like, a game or animation project, and you want to spend hours rather than days cleaning it up, then as far as I know, the answer is still "not quite close enough"
@noiob oooh man
the old versions, which they still sell, are actually... cheap as fuck? like, 1500 dollars for a full suit?
@noiob I mean, mocap from single perspective using machine learning but systems for that exist (the search keyword is "body keypoint detection", one system that I know for that is openpose. the notebook that generates these videos uses a model that does that as an intermediate step)
@noiob that's just mocap isn't it
