i kind of resent the greenhouse area for something that's not jonathan blow's fault at all. it's not fair to hold it against the game at all but here i am
i worked so hard on the elevator. there was a specific floor i wanted to get to, and i wanted to get to it for days. i had pages and pages of notes for just the greenhouse elevator. and they weren't even fruitless "here are all the things i've thrown at the wall and haven't stuck". i was making good progress. i was understanding the system more and more
it was extremely slow going. i'm sure many other players found it extremely easy, or went "wow this is so hard, it took me 15 minutes!" but for me this was THE puzzle for DAYS. i couldn't get it out of my brain. just when i'd think "there really is no more information to wring out of this thing" i'd think of something new, and it would often genuinely help
it got to the point where i could access any floor in the building except the one i wanted systematically, using a mental model that i'm certain was almost right. i had a pretty good idea of why i could get to all those other floors, but i wasn't sure why the equivalent solution to get to the floor i wanted didn't work. but i was close! i could smell it!
i solved the puzzle by accident. i was trying to gather more information about the system and accidentally put in something that brought me to where i wanted to go. and i didn't understand why.
i tried to put some time into working backwards and figuring it out but my heart wasn't in it

@monorail what helped me a lot with the game was occasionally being able to ask my friends, who were playing at the same time "hey I think this works this way, but I can't figure out the next puzzle, am I on the right track or should I retrace my steps"
also my dad didn't play with sound on lol
