adding to the honorable tradition of leaving an unreleased device in a restaurant: the Pixel Watch https://9to5google.com/2022/04/23/pixel-watch-images-leak/
what makes this interesting to me is both the round display which I think looks neat (and why shouldn't smartwatches be round?) and the rotating crown, which should be required on WearOS watches, it simply makes sense. Also it'll probably be the first device to run unthemed WearOS 3, Samsung has it on some of their watches but it's heavily modified
The person who gave the pictures of the Pixel Watch to Android Central has posted some more pictures and info on Reddit https://redd.it/ub2jbb
@noiob I haven't heard about Pebble in years, how were they?
@chefjeff they were the best
@noiob what happened to them?
@chefjeff short answer: they ran out of money
long answer: https://medium.com/@ericmigi/why-pebble-failed-d7be937c6232
@noiob oh dang, that sucks. e-ink seems like a very interesting selling point for it too
@chefjeff it's not eInk, it's a Sharp memory LCD that needs very little power to keep its state but can also easily show fluid 60fps animation
@noiob ah, misread the article then. sounds very cool, sucks that they went bankrupt
@chefjeff ePaper ≠ eInk, eInk is the company that owns the patent for those paper-like displays that retain their image without power, ePaper is a generic term that can be used for anything
@noiob aah, til
looks nice. Interested in how large the bezel is and other stuff, but the general configuration seems like something I'd want. They'd better make it a good one because my poor Pebble 2 has seen better days
