@onfy I don't think so? I only heard that's an issue with SATA adapters
@onfy the 120GB IDE drive in my Xbox is definitely not the one it came with from the factory and it works fine with the stock cable
@noiob Maybe read all my posts before responding then? I'm using a Samsung 80GB IDE drive mfg in 2004. Specifically a SP0802N.
@noiob I'd also like to note I'm specifically using a vintage drive to AVOID compatibility issues.
@noiob (Even aside from the IDE cable, a lot of those SATA adapters look, perhaps unsurprisingly, poorly made, and can apparently cause shorts... not something you want inside your Xbox. And I'd wonder if there's any disadvantage to using a 4K sector drive vs a 512 byte sector drive, or even worse, SMR... I remember Windows XP having extremely bad performance issues with 4K sector drives back in the day.)
@onfy sorry, it's late
@noiob I should probably work on sleeping better too...
@noiob Any evidence of issues with a true oldskool PATA HDD?
