considering buying a third minidisc recorder so I can rip discs
@noiob none of the ones I have are netmd?
@Siph oh, I have a lovely MZ-N505 but it's not exploitable afaik
@noiob ah right :( it only works with Type-S NetMD devices and the MZ-N505 is Type-R.
In my experience the most common and cheapest option would be the MZ-N510. it's also just a very solid player and runs on a single AA battery
@Siph yeah but I feel it's not really worth getting another player (that's also just an incremental upgrade to one I already have) just to rip some Japanese pop songs
@noiob yeah especially if you can find them off of a better source otherwise

@Siph my thinking is if I had them as files I could probably throw them at some song recognition api
@noiob yeah that's exactly what I've been doing lately, I've archived 70 discs out of a collection of 110 I bought last year
