Argh, I put the PS3's UI on Japanese as a whim (when we need to put it back we know where the language selector is, the settings categories have icons and it's the third one down), and now I'm struggling to figure out how to translate the most basic things.
like the header of the keyboard panel says「コーザー各」; figuring out that kanji was a PAIN (can't type it when we don't know what it is!) but it seems to be「各」, "each/every/either", but we have no idea how to figure out what「コーザー」means. Putting it in dictionaries, by itself or with the kanji, gives us nothing.
@frostwolf in what context is the header that? it seems to change based on what you're inputting
@noiob Oh! It's username change.
@noiob OH. It must be "name", because right before that screen it says「コーザー:forestbeasts」。
(...I'm not sure if I'm mixing the scripts and punctuation right, but whatever.)
@noiob *switches back* oh, no, "user".
@noiob In English that keyboard field says "User Name".
@frostwolf are you sure it doesn't say ユーザー
@frostwolf yeah, it's probably ユーザー名
@frostwolf (as in the Kanji is "name")
@noiob OHH. Of /course/ I got the kanji wrong too.
*facepaws* thank you so much!
@noiob I /thought/ the one I mismatched didn't look quite right, but chalked it up to font differences.
@noiob ... the music column header is「ミユージツク」(assuming I'm getting it right), "miyuzitsuku", which sounds like it's ANOTHER loanword? Figuring out the interface might be easier than I expected! But maybe not as helpful for learning things.
@frostwolf (it usually stands for a glottal stop)
@noiob OH! *facepaw*
The things we were reading even mentioned the glottal stop thing, but I completely forgot it. Thanks!
