there was some fairly cryptic entry in the patch notes for the upcoming splatoon update that said something about lowering the delay when sending data, or something? and the way it was worded could mean anything from slightly improving ping (somehow) or upping the tick rate to 60hz. like it could be anything

they did specifically say it was supposed to reduce trades that occurred due to lag

upping the tick rate actually seems technically possible, apparently the game is already capable of sending data over the network every frame, but it's configured to send repeat data a few times instead of new data

but i think it's extremely unlikely because 1. why would they have specifically have configured it that way if it wasn't important 2. it just feels way to good to be true

@monorail didn't sploon 3 have a lower tick rate than 2 for some reason

@monorail maybe they wanted to be safe for launch but now decided that yeah actually their servers and people's connections can totally handle 60Hz

Follow

@monorail or maybe they sped something up in the game logic, but 3 frames "on average" is a lot

@monorail well, when it rolls out people will test it so

@noiob yeah

and the servers are going down for maintenance in 20 minutes so taht's likely what that's about
