@noiob also, the link doesn't have to be rewritten - there could also be a modifying token like *[url] or mastodon:// or whatever you can think of, to change the behavior.
@lritter ah sorry, quote retweet, it's the feature on Twitter where a tweet link in a tweet will get embedded under it, it's a big harassment vector
@noiob anything can be a big harassment vector if you're trying hard enough. ;-)
in any case, i can quote-retweet already right now, it just doesn't look very good, and has hoops but they can all be manually overcome. if the app doesn't solve it, then users could still install browser extensions to get it done. life... finds a way
@lritter oh, you mean rewriting links to instances to automatically open in the web ui, yeah that's possible but it's also almost a QRT which Mastodon doesn't implement for a reason
