Eli Yudin tried to use Mastodon, but wrote this Cracked article instead.

In that article, they cited me and my Increasingly Less-Brief Guide to Mastodon without talking to me first. They also pretty thoroughly embarrassed themselves. (I am old enough to remember when someone could have written an identical article about Usenet, coming from AOL.)

Some thoughts on what they said specifically about the Guide:

"It’s someone setting out to make a brief introduction, only to end up with a 3200-word, heavily sub-headed, forever hungry monstrosity."

It's 3200 words because I use the Guide to explain a LOT of topics in a LOT more depth than most people need to know. It is not a primer or an introduction; it is a user manual. And the name is a joke. Read some Douglas Adams, Eli.

It's heavily sub-headed because that way it's easy to use. You can quickly find the subject you're looking for.
