Is there a Linux desktop out there which lets you have separate workspaces for each monitor?

Under #MATE, when you switch spaces, it switches it for both monitors, and it would be really nice if there was a way to control them separately.

@woozle i3 lets you even move workspaces between monitors, but it's a tiling wm so it's not a drop-in replacement for Mate. Very nice for productivity work though. I believe sway is the equivalent if you prefer wayland

@noiob @woozle and you don't even have to switch screens with the mouse. Just modkey+<num> to focus the workplace you want active
