gosh guitar hero is so fun
it's a shame mainstream rythm/music gaming kinda died out, I blame microtransactions

like, in the past you'd buy a game and have like thirty songs and if you wanted more you'd have to buy another game, these days you buy a game and get maybe ten songs and the rest gets sold to you three bucks a pop

@noiob the problem was never the microtransactions. They worked out super well for Rock Band which is somehow still going today.

Between 2005 and 2010, they released 12 Guitar Hero games physically into stores. They diluted the market so badly that it destroyed the brand.

@noiob and that's only the console versions. I haven't counted the DS games, the DJ Hero games or the mobile phone games.

@Vordus what are you talking about, the last Rock Band game came out in 2008

@noiob 2015. And it's still getting new songs weekly.

@Vordus ah, wrong Wikipedia article. Still, I can't walk into Gamestop and buy a plastic drum kit for that game today, can I? I'd hardly call that "still going". Having a handful of people still making maps for is life support

@Vordus Singstar went digital too, I know not a single soul who owns the wireless Singstar microphones for the PS3

@noiob that's because there was an abundance of USB karaoke mics that were considerably cheaper.

Iirc, a lot of them were rebranded stock after some Konami karaoke game failed.

Lol, I just opened a drawer and saw a Lips wireless mic

@noiob Lips was Microsoft's answer to SingStar, and the only reason anyone bought it was because it came with wireless mics that were compatible with Rock Band.
