@woozle is maybe your Android new enough that it doesn't let apps indiscriminately access the file system anymore?

@noiob I've never had an Android that did. I'm just wondering why they went to the trouble of writing an app that gives so much interaction between devices without including that feature.

I can send files from the Android, but I can't browse from the computer.

Also, it's refusing to give me any USB transfer options, too; this is new.

@woozle Android 13 and up try to restrict apps to specific folders chosen by the user.

MTP should definitely work, that sounds like sth's broke

@noiob It used to be that when the cable was plugged in, it would give me the option of whether to enable MTP or media-sharing or just charging -- but it's not doing that.

I suppose maybe the cable could be at fault; maybe this is a just-for-charging cable.

@noiob Switched cables, and now I'm seeing the phone as a device with files -- so that should work.

My original gripe, though, was why KDE Connect doesn't include this functionality, even as an opt-in thing. There are other apps I could use, but there are multiple awkwardnesses to using them.
