Does anyone know why Google says 8/10 for Steam when my game actually has 100%? Is it because it doesn't have enough reviews (and if so, what's the number)?

@kinmoku I wonder if they're using the steamdb formula, which is biased towards 50%, especially if there's not a lot of ratings. I don't know why they would, I think Steam's "positive" would work much better there since it's actually mentioned on the website (and I generally prefer it to a numbers rating)

@noiob Hmm how does that work, then? Where does 8 come from?

@kinmoku I have no idea. I don't think they surface it anywhere in their own UI and it doesn't correspond with the ratings given on game pages as far as I can tell

@noiob I can only guess it'll get more accurate with more reviews, but it's very strange to slap a number on there that doesn't really reflect the reality. Seen some other indie games with 97-100% recommended reviews marked as 7s!

@kinmoku yeah, either way it's weird for Google to display it when even Steam itself doesn't seem to

@kinmoku also "having few reviews gives you a lower score" is heavily biased towards big name releases which have lots more players, though that is obviously data that's available to Valve so they might account for it
