PC watercooling diagnostic questions

does anyone know how closed loop watercooling pumps are generally wired up. this is a corsair H115i RGB platinum

i'm asking because i wanna know how safe it would be to unplug the pump from the CPU fan header and connect the two fans directly using a splitter. the pump is connected by SATA power, so i assume it won't just stop pumping, and i also assume the pump's fan plug is exclusively for the fans, which are currently connected to the pump itself

we wanna figure out if the fault is in the pump unit before going through the process of replacing the fans

@xenon just try it, the CPU won't immediately overheat if the pump stops (and if it does it'll just shut down before anything bad happens)
