a bunch of my accessibility customization plugins just broke so if you're the kind of person who'd tell me to "just" use "tampermonkey" can you translate this into fifth grade level english please? i googled "enable developer mode" but when i did that it just opened a side panel of code with a lot of buttons i don't understand
@kelly paste chrome://extensions into your address bar, then click on the toggle in the top right
@kelly yes, Gecko-based browsers like Mozilla Firefox and depending on your OS, Webkit-based browsers like Safari
@noiob is that not a firefox logo there in this warning popup though? i must be out of the loop
i'm on "windows 10" if that matters
@kelly That is a Firefox logo because Chrome and Firefox take the same addon format (for now). However, the message only appears when you read the Chrome changelog, same as the Manifest V3 message
Firefox will implement a thing called "Manifest V3", the new format that makes adblockers worse and kills addons like Tampermonkey, but they have no plans of discontinuing Manifest V2, which is what addons currently use

@noiob i don't know most of these words i'm sorry
what, in simple terms, is someone like me to do (i'm mostly just making certain websites stop flashbanging me with inflexible design choices)
@kelly in the long run you will have to switch to a browser that is not Chrome
@noiob so................. firefox...? then? yes, no?
@kelly yes, Firefox will be a safe choice for the foreseeable future
@noiob is there.... some other kind of browser where this is not a problem
