got an amd gpu for christmas; it feels great to be able to play games on linux

@noiob i'm rocking a radeon rx 6650 xt now!

which means i can use this! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMDgpu

which, in practice means that forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/ is no longer stopping me from playing literally all the games i wish i could in my steam library

like, legit, this is both the issue i've been kneecaped by the entire time i've tried to do anything graphically intensive in linux, but also the thing i've spent the longest time troubleshooting; testing a probably-triple-digit number of permutations of proton, kernel parameters, and the nvidia driver (which meant i ended up needing to downgrade my kernel about 30 times too)

it's not a joke to say that i probably spent an order of magnitude more time bashing my head on this than all of my gameplay for those games across the entire year combined :blobcatnotlikethis:

@noiob i spent pretty much the entirety of yesterday playing stuff that has been dangling in front of me the entire year, and oh my gosh

turns out, being able to enjoy something for longer than 20 seconds is great, actually
