3DS battery dead. Wii U battery dead. One PSP battery dead. Gonna be a lot of charging.

I swapped to the other battery, was about 84%. The one I left in the console is at 5%.

PSP says battery is now 65%... that's pretty remarkable drain for only playing an MP3 for an hour.

I imagine LightMP3 which can downclock to 20 mhz is better for the battery. It can't play streams.

@onfy if it's hacked you can just downclock in the menu

are you sure it's not just your battery being shot?

"I need to keep the CPU at 222 mhz, underclocking to 111 mhz makes playback choppy. I guess it's decoding on the CPU instead of media engine?"

@onfy ah! idk why it would do that. maybe a different format would work better? something something ATRAC

@noiob What internet radio station uses ATRAC? I'm listening to a shoutcast stream.

@onfy last time I checked, some of the virtual one-station-radio clip players still played music (need to switch the CFW to Japanese or region-free for it to show up iirc)

@noiob Where would I find this? If you have insight into PSP or other systems' homebrew it'd be appreciated!

Follow

@onfy yeah, no region change needed, they just show up

@onfy can't check if they still rn since I switched routers since I last tried it, but I can probably get the files and zip them up for you

@onfy yeah, I need to set up some insecure router I can turn on for my old consoles, sadly not everything has a LAN adapter like the Wii lol

@noiob Wii supports WPA2, but I've heard of people randomly having problems with it. But yeah, for the last few DAYS I worked to painstakingly set up an isolated VLAN just for this insecure wifi.

And none of my neighbours have even tried hacking my gibson!

@onfy the Wii might support WPA2 but some newer routers still are too new for it

honestly I wouldn't be too concerned about hackers, a simple Mac filter and only turning it on when needed would probably suffice… I just can't be bothered since i don't really do anything online with these

@noiob I just think going online with old old systems is pretty cool. Beats paying $100 a year to Nintendo...

It's weird, on my network it seems to work, on my friend's it never works. Not sure what their router is, they aren't as inclined as I am with networks.

@onfy it's cool but all my consoles I actually wanna use FTP on or play online through fan servers have LAN ports, it's so much less hassle and probably faster too

@noiob Yeah, I'm not even sure how much use I'll get out of this... it might be nice to play Mario Kart DS online.

I should get a wired adapter for my Wii one day.

@onfy @noiob worth noting that you don't need the nintendo one, but a lot of usb->ethernet adapters use a chipset that's too new for the wii

this is the one i use (it's recommended by the Slippi Nintendont devs) amazon.ca/dp/B00MYT481C?psc=1&

@monorail @onfy mentioning the chip, they know what they're doing

@noiob @onfy i only just scrolled down on the page to the part where it specifically says it works on the wii haha

@monorail @noiob I have the USB 3 one on my Switch (or had, it's sitting around for now) but it doesn't work, guess that one has a different chipset.

@onfy okay yeah true ds wiimfii would be cool, I kinda wanna see if it works on the 3DS (dunno if that still connects fine)

you can get a generic lan adapter for the wii if you match the chip, it has to report as ID 0b95:7720 ASIX Electronics Corp. AX88772, I think

@noiob I'm surprised if those still work. Not sure how much better or worse it'd be than this program, but there was a particular local station I wanted. I think I did try it back in the day though, I have a shoutcast file on my memory stick.
