@noiob @halcy gotta say, I don't think I trust the latches on the battery enough to do that on any of my thinkpads, at least not any more (the batteries slide out the back, and are held in only with some worn plastic nubs).
They usually had reinforced lids and good hinges, so holding one by the screen worked fine.
Of course, these thinkpads usually have drain holes in the keyboard, so using one as a tray for a drink *with the screen open* would be an interesting show of dominance ;)
@noiob @halcy ah, that's the trick - I got this one *new* with the intent of running Linux on it, so I picked the integrated GPU option :)
Some modifications have been made over the years - "Middleton" hacked BIOS, faster/newer CPU, WiFi 6. The screen is trash tho (CCFL backlight faded) and putting an LED backlight screen in this thing simply isn't worth the trouble.
@noiob @halcy This particular laptop bag is actually kind of interesting. It's a discontinued bag by Topeak, a bicycle accessory company. On the side not visible in the photo, it has a rail mount so the bag can attach to their MTX QuickTrack system, and I have a matching rack on my bike. A neat commuter bag for an office worker.
@noiob @halcy oh hey it me
