is there any good way to add alt text to an image file itself? i've got some PNGs here, but they could be converted to something else

there's usually some kind of metadata field you can put arbitrary text in, but is there some standard for getting that to actually work with screen readers?

PNGs do not have HTML files. they have PNG files because they're PNG files

@noiob it looks like PNGs can have a non-standard description string. not sure if that's something screen readers generally pick up on or not

@xenon that said, I doubt any screen reader reads it. Apple photos has a "comment" field they store in metadata somehow
