it turns out that if I listen to the Wikipedia or the 3GPP, EDGE is a 2G network, but according to the ITU, EDGE is a 3G one

@xerz the Wikipedia article says "EDGE is considered a pre-3G radio technology and is part of ITU's 3G definition."
