we're now on the latest version of mastodon and upon seeing the new theme I shouted a very loud "oh no!"

how do you contrast, my fellow kids?

also I really don't like the caution bars around the content warning field

it's a subject field. that's it. it should not make me feel like I have added additional tension to my post by using it. if I were assuming active malice upon the people designing it, I would have assumed that dissuading people from using it was the point

also if you hate the caution bars as much as I do, you can add a ublock rule for ##div.spoiler-input__border and they go away

incredible

since a lot of people are updating mastodon today, here, I'll reshare this advice:

if you cannot edit themes on your instance, you can add a ublock rule for ##div.spoiler-input__border to get rid of the obnoxious af caution tape around the CW field. if you can edit themes, you can delete these extra divs and have the same effect.

just removing them makes the site better and this should be done upstream.

Follow

@clarfonthey you don't need to figure out how to edit themes, there should still be global custom CSS in the instance settings
