people think online community is when you're on a website but if it's actually solid community in which you are considered an important part it will go beyond whatever platform you're on

but tbh my communities kind of always has been "the website we're on"? and "the school we all go to". and "the job we're all interns at". like I think it would be valid to call each of the connections we formed merely due to some sort of proximity a community, even if we all sort of lost contact after the website shut down, or after we all graduated, or after our contracts ended. I don't know about y'all but I find it hard to make deep, close friends over a short period of time, so I'm grateful for any sort of short-lived community I find myself comfortable to be in, and I don't... idk it feels bad to have something dismissed as not a community just because The Power Of Friendship doesn't last beyond the various changes that occur
