Does Germany have any laws on what to do if exiting a building complex would be impossible in the case of a fire?

our building is failing to fix a gate that is impossible to open from the inside, and keeps resulting in people being locked in _when not in an emergency_ let alone if there was a fire.

@endocrimes ja, Fluchtwege müssen vorhanden sein und freigehalten werden, genaueres steht wahrscheinlich in der Landesbauordnung. Ich denke mal da ist dann auch das Bauamt zuständig? bin mir aber nicht sicher

@noiob @endocrimes Yup, it falls under Bauaufsicht (at least in Berlin) berlin.de/sen/bauen/baurecht-u They can decide if a building is safe to occupy or not.

I don't know how reporting would look in practice that's not on a construction/renovation, since there the law requires a sign-off from a qualified fire inspector who has a reporting obligation if the investor doesn't fix issues.

Are you a part of Mieterverein that could assist with it? If not maybe berliner-feuerwehr.de/ihre-sic will know what to do?

@makdaam @endocrimes talking to the Feuerwehr is a good idea! they will probably know what to do

@makdaam @noiob I'm part of a mieterverein but ours is useless in practice 🙃 - The Feuerwehr might at least have a stick to beat the new building owner with into getting _something_ done about at least 1 of the problems we have lol

@endocrimes sorry to hear that :/ mine at least has lawyers that respond and help with countering shady letters.
