since most parts in this can take 24 V I wanted to upgrade it from the stock i3 Mega's 12 V
gonna have to order new fans for the toolhead (I thought the board on there could run 12V fans but it's a different one) and do a lot of cable management, mount the new power supply on more than one screw (why is there no standard for PSU screw holes?) but it used to be unable to hold the hotend temperature when the part cooling was on and now it easily can :)
@noiob neat. 🙂 Pushed mine to 13.5V since I did not want to change too much and the power supply still got some reserves. Can get the hotend to 300°C and bed to 110°C inside a heatchamber that way, that's more than enough for such an old printer.
Would rather build a new one from scratch to get it even higher, perhaps a Voron or Vyper.
@Natanox this just needs to beat a very reliable but dog slow Ultimaker 2 Pro to be a successful conversion
@noiob you might get away with wiring the two fans in series. Assuming they both have the same function.
