hey feed if i want to make a linux laptop also be a router (probably going to be ubuntu, im just gonna use a live usb) should i try to configure that right on there or can/should i run a router distro in a vm (if yes, recommendations welcome) or what

i also want to be able to run a service that clients can reach if that information is relevant

@chrisisgr8 how permanent is it gonna be? I think unless it's supposed to be running permanently with high reliability just hacking together a config in the ubuntu you already have will be fine

@chrisisgr8 honestly the bigger issue for me would be the live usb since it'll be slow lol

@noiob not permanent, it's gonna be up for like 1-2 hours as part of a project, which is the reason im using a liveusb (i'm gonna use my old laptop which is currently busy with a windows install i need for some software research adventures and i'd rather do this on an ephemeral install where it won't be a huge deal if i do somethign stupid getting it set up anyway)
